The Malay are among the hardest to reach Muslim people groups in the world. Although the church has existed in Malaysia for over 500 years, no one has yet seen a regularly meeting assembly of Malay believers emerge. Today the 16 million Malay living in Malaysia are legally locked down by a constitution that dictates that anyone who is Malay must also be Muslim.
Malaysia is the most internet-penetrated, large Muslim country in the world—web outreach initiatives using the technologies of Google ads are drawing Malay eyes to the Word in numbers never before seen. To reach these 16 million people, the number of dedicated field practitioners is too few.
The Malay Media Initiative Phase 2 includes funding to continue internet promotion of the Bible in the Malay language coupled with support for culturally similar believers from nearby countries to boldly proclaim the Great News to the Malay. The work specifically includes translation, editing, website building, content production (including dialect-sensitive audio recordings) and travel support for a few nearby fellow believers who are willing to take the risk to preach the Word in Malay.
The total Phase 2 project cost is $30,200. Envelopes are available at the Global Missions display and gifts will be accepted through December 10. Electronic giving to this project is also available:
