North Midland Family Center

 

Are you looking for an opportunity to meet the needs of others in our local community this Christmas? Midland Free has adopted the North Midland Family Center in the northern part of Midland County and Central Park School in the Grove Park area. We have a long-term commitment to the families in these areas. We invite you as an individual, a family unit or a Life Group or a Discipleship Group to participate in one or more of the following opportunities.

 

Christmas Party at North Midland Family Center
Friday, December 15, 5:30-8:00 pm

 

  • GoLocal is seeking volunteers to help at the North Midland Family Christmas Party at 2601 E. Shearer Road, Midland. Stop by the GoLocal Center in the south lobby and pick up a volunteer reminder card and let us know you are coming. (back to top)
  • Bless a family with Christmas Dinner this year! Pick up an envelope at the GoLocal Center in the south lobby and for only $25 you can provide a special Christmas dinner for a family in the North Midland area. We are hoping to provide 150 families with a Christmas dinner this year. Monies are due by Sunday, December 10, after the second service. (back to top)

 

Cold Weather Gear and Preschool Items for Children at North Midland Family Center

 

Brrr, it gets cold outside in Michigan in the winter. Help the children at The North Midland Family Center say warm this winter. Please pick up a tag at the GoLocal display in the south lobby and return the items to the North Midland Family Center Christmas Party on December 15 or drop off at the church on or before December 10. No need to wrap the items. Please place the items in a bag and adhere the tag to the bag so that we know the sizes and items included.

  • Baby Size:  Snowsuits
  • Toddler Size:  Winter coats, Winter snow pants, winter boots, hats, mittens
  • Preschool Size:  Winter coats, Winter snow pants, winter boots, hats, mittens
  • Teen Sizes:  Winter coats, Winter boots, hats and mittens
  • Snowman kit (for preschool)
  • Snow shoes (Preschool size)

Adopt a Family from Central Park School

 

Adopt a family from Central Park School, which is in the Grove Park area of Midland. You are able to purchase gifts and deliver them personally to the family or deliver them to the school.

A Christmas wish list will be provided to you one week after sign-up. Sign-up begins Nov 12 at the GoLocal board or via email. All we need from you are a few details:

  • Your email address to give you the family wish list and information.
  • The family size you wish to adopt from three to eight persons.

Gift drop-off date is Tuesday, December 19, between 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm at Central Park School or you can coordinate directly with the family to deliver the gifts in person. Any questions?  Contact Jacob Bartuszevige at jbart50@gmail.com. (back to top)

Please visit the north lobby table through Sun., Nov. 19, to pick up a shoe box and instructional pamphlet, and begin packing a shoe box or plastic bin boxes now! Midland Free is in partnership with Samaritan's Purse by being a Relay Center where shoe box gifts are received, counted and packed for shipping and delivered to the next destination...one step closer into the hands of a needy child.

Midland Free will be available to receive your Operation Christmas child gift shoe boxes during the National Collection Week in our "North Pole" atrium on:

  • Tuesday, November 14 1:00 - 3 :00 pm
  • Wednesday, November 15 4:00 - 6:00 pm

Delight a kid! Start with a “wow” item that will capture the child’s attention the instant he or she opens the box. Ideas include: Outfit, shoes, musical instrument, soccer ball (deflated) with pump, stuffed animal and doll.

  • Toys: Include items that children will immediately embrace such as toy cars, yo-yos, jump ropes, balls, toys that light up and make noise (with extra batteries), etc.
  • School Supplies: pens, pencils and sharpeners, crayons, markers, notebooks, paper, solar calculators, coloring and picture books, etc.
  • Non-liquid Hygiene Items: toothbrushes, bar soap, combs, washcloths, etc. (no toothpaste)
  • Accessories: Socks, hats, sunglasses, hair clips, jewelry, watches, flashlights (with extra batteries), etc.
  • Quality Crafts: Hair bows, finger puppets, and friendship bracelets.
  • A Personal Note: You may enclose a note to the child and a photo of yourself or your family. If you include your name and address, the child may be able to write back.

Do Not Include candy; toothpaste; used or damaged items; war-related items such as toy guns, knives, or military figures; chocolate or food; fruit rolls or other fruit snacks; drink mixes (powdered or liquid); liquids or lotions; mediations or vitamins; breakable items such as snow globes or glass containers; aerosol cans.  (back to top)
