how people change

Sundays, January 7 - February 25
9:00 am, Room 301, Cost $20

What does it take for lasting change to take root in your life? If you’ve ever tried, failed, and wondered why, you need to come to How People Change. In this class we will discuss the biblical pattern for change in a clear and practical way that we can apply to the challenges of daily life. Wait! That is not the answer! Change involves more than a biblical formula; we will see how God is at work to make us the people He created us to be. That powerful, loving, redemptive relationship with Our Lord is at the heart of all positive change we experience. The goal of this class is to help equip the saints of Midland Free.

Discerning the Voice of God by Priscilla Shirer

God loves you and desires a personal relationship with you. He wants to speak directly to you. But do you recognize His voice? Discerning the Voice of God helps you know if what you hear is from God. Through this practical study, you will become more familiar with God’s Holy Spirit, His character, His language and the tone of His voice. The more intimate your relationship with Him, the clearer God’s voice becomes. Join us as we study His Word, and learn to anticipate His voice. No online signup necessary.

parenting from the tree of life

October 29 - March 18
Sundays, 9:00 am, Room 309

Registration is closed - class is full

An 18-week class designed for couples to work together in training their preschool to preteen children. The focus of the study is to learn to speak life into our children and our homes while raising morally responsible children. Leaders:  Jason & Johanna Humphrey

  • Part One: Life, Children and Relationships speaks to the relational components associated with healthy parenting. Because children tend to reflect the priorities and values of their home life, what is important to Mom and Dad will become important to their children, and will influence what each child becomes in the future.
  • Part Two: Life, Children and Character Development covers critical components of character training and explains the guiding principles for raising children who are kind, courteous, respectful, cooperative, confident, and certainly well mannered. No child arrives at this level of moral distinctiveness if the home life from which he or she comes is not already conversant with such virtue. Part two is as much for parents as it is for children.
  • Part Three: Life, Children, Encouragement and Correction takes up the challenges associated with the correction side of training. Correction is not all about fixing undesirable or wayward behavior—parents must also pay attention to the preventative components of training that reduce the amount of correction needed in the first place. Proactively encouraging behaviors that help children stay on track and knowing how to properly correct children to put them back on track is the focus of Part Three.

$20 for the workbook.
